My name's Lynn. This blog will be showcasing my photography, drawings, jewelry, makeup, and any other artistic mediums I decide to indulge in. I'm currently enrolled at Rhode Island College and hope to be a wedding and/or band photographer. My inspirations and thoughts will narrate as I go along.

1/1

This is the rough beginnings of my next wax/casting project. It is a chain/link necklace assignment. I need to create a “link” out of wax and produce a mold in order to make duplicates. Can’t wait to get these cast in metal so I can put it all together.

My final jewelry project for class was to create a ring that told a story. I chose Beauty and the Beast as my story. I tried to think of inner and outer beauty as well as masculine and feminine. The outer beauty is represented by the bezeled stone and the inner beauty is the cut out negative space. I’m happy with how this piece came out because I was proud of my sketches and wanted to make it look as close as possible.

All pieces are cut, formed, and soldered by me. I used copper and brass. The stone is a mystical red/pink. Its hard to tell just how vibrant the color is.

This is my second project for jewelry class. The assignment was to create a vessel that contained an emotion. I chose grief as my emotion. My best friend passed away a few years ago and I wanted to represent that grief I always feel. I want this vessel to resonate with a soft, sombre sadness. The form references an abstract heart and the piece that is detachable is an angel wing. On the inside of that piece I stamped my friend’s nickname repeatedly.

It’s about six inches in length. It’s made of copper sheet that I forged and soldered with a liver of sulfur finish. I added feathers for contrast and the delicate state this emotion can leave a person in. This piece gave me a lot of trouble at times, but I’m really happy with how it finally came out.

My first jewelry/metalsmithing project. Designed, soldered, and pierced all by me. It’s meant to be a self-portrait piece. I was inspired by moons and stars. On the back I made the little dots to represent the Leo constellation (since I’m a Leo). I added the thread to add dimension. And of course my favorite color is purple.

The inside of the locket reads “We were written in the stars, my love, all that separated us, was time, the time it took to read the map which was placed within our hearts, to find our way to one another.” (for the hopeless romantic in me)
